How to Use the Map Tools - The Mapping Application consist of six tools that will allow you to navigate and retrieve information from the map. By rolling your mouse over the Map Tools a tool tip will appear explaining what each tool does.

Zoom In: To use the Zoom In tool simply either click in the map once where you want to zoom in to, or click and drag out a square and the new map will be zoomed to the area you just set in the rectangle.

Zoom Out: To use the Zoom Out tool simply either click in the map once where you want to zoom out from, or click and drag out a square and the new map will be zoomed out to the area including and around the rectangle. The smaller the rectangle you draw, the further the map will zoom out

Full Map: Click on this tool when you want to zoom to the full extent of the city.

Pan: This tool will make the cursor turn into hand that you can drag across the map with. Click on the map, HOLD DOWN your mouse button and drag the map to display a new area.

Identify: Use this tool to click on a feature in the map you want to get information on. The attribute information will be displayed in a pop-up window. The information returned may include a WEBSITE, if so click on it's link to view further related information.

Print: To print the current extent of The Mapping Application click on the "Print" button. A new window will pop-up prompting you to enter a title for the map. After clicking the "Create Print Page" button another window will open up with the map image that can be printed by pressing FILE then PRINT. Be sure to change the page orientation of the printer to landscape.


Layers Tab - The Layers Tab allows you to turn different layers on and off in The Mapping Application. To turn a layer on simply check the box next to the layer and click the "Refresh Map" button. Some layers are scale dependent meaning you must be zoomed in on the map before the layer will become visible.


Legend Tab - The Legend Tab allows you to view the symbology for the various features on the map.


Search Tab - The Search Tab allows you to perform various search functions in The Mapping Application. From the drop down menu you can choose what you would like to search for such as an "Address" or "Park".
