Local History

The Local History collection contains a variety of materials that relate to the history of Newport Beach, Orange County, and California. The collection is located at the Central Library on the second floor in the Local History alcove. The retrospective collection contains diverse materials which include:

Local History Bibliography - A selected list of items from the Local History collection at the Central Library.

Nautical Collection - A selected list of items from the Nautical Collection at the Balboa branch.

Materials Reproduction & Use Policy - Guidelines for reproducing items in the Local History collection.

We are open during the Central library’s hours: Monday – Thursday 9am to 9pm; Friday and Saturdays 9am to 6pm; Sundays 12 to 5pm.
