Controversial columnist and pioneer blogger Andrew Sullivan will speak about his latest book, "The Conservative Soul: How We Lost It, How to Get it Back," at the Newport Beach Central Library tonight and Saturday.
Sullivan's third book offers a defense of old-style conservatism while critiquing the Republican far right for becoming the "first fundamentally religious political party in America."
Since earning his doctorate in political science at Harvard University, Sullivan served as senior editor of the New Republic, making him the youngest in its history, and a columnist for Time magazine, the New York Times Magazine and the Sunday Times of London. He currently writes a blog, the Daily Dish, for the Atlantic Online.
The presentation begins at 7 tonight and 2 p.m. Saturday, and includes refreshments and a book signing. Tickets are $25 to $40.
