A building permit is required for new construction and for alterations and additions to existing buildings. Permits are also required for such things as window replacements, block walls, wood fencing, patio covers, built-in BBQ's, skylights and solar units. When applying for a permit, verification of your State Contractor's License, City Business License and Worker's Compensation Certificate, and owner/builder declaration may be required where applicable.

For a fax back copy of our building permit application, please follow the directions at the end of this script. A building permit expires 180 days after it is issued, if work has not commenced, or 180 days after work on the project has stopped as determined by when the last inspection was performed. Building permit fees are based on a dollar valuation of the work being done. The permit and plan check fees are a percentage of the valuation. Electrical, mechanical, and plumbing permit fees are based on an itemization of the equipment to be installed.
