Fire Sprinklers Save Lives. The Newport Beach Fire Department strongly encourages the installation of automatic fire sprinkler systems throughout buildings for the protection of both lives and property. These systems, usually consisting of overhead sprinklers, automatically spray water over the fire area. A permit and plan review of the system is required by the Newport Beach Fire Department prior to installation of fire extinguishing systems. The department must approve the installation plan and system features before you can proceed. Once a permit is granted and the job is completed, a final inspection of the system is required by the Fire Department. This process varies in cost.
