An Ocean Front Encroachment Permit is required and must be issued by the Public Works Department for any improvement in the public right-of-way along the ocean front from the Santa Ana River Channel to Channel Road. Oceanfront Encroachment Permits can be obtained from the Public Works Department at City Hall, located at 3300 Newport Boulevard, Building C, between 7:30 and 5:00, Monday through Friday. Please allow a minimum of 7 days for review of your application. The Public Works Department has the right to modify the time required for approval of the permit or to deny the permit if it does not meet the Cityâ??s requirements. The number again is 644-3311. Annual fees for permits are based on the depth of encroachment.
