"Impressions of a California Landscape"

Newport Beach, CA (March 2, 2009) – The City Arts Commission presents an exhibition titled “Impressions of a California Landscape” by local artist Lili Dierenfield at the Newport Beach Central Library, 1000 Avocado Avenue, during the months of March and April.

Lili Dierenfield has been painting for over 30 years.  In this stunning series of impressionistic landscapes Dierenfield returns to her roots, California, with impressions in color almost reminiscent of days gone by.  What she finds most exciting is “interpreting the landscape in terms of pattern and color.” Her talent is a visual reminder to stop and appreciate the beauty that remains, and which we pass by every day.

In addition to the California landscapes, the exhibit includes several of Dierenfield’s distinctive oil on canvas portraits. A self-taught artist, she has traveled the world, studying the unique customs, faces and dress of native Europeans, Africans, and people of the Middle East.  Lili has a proclivity for Native Americans, and has developed a reputation for her oils depicting Native American women; many of these outstanding portraits are in private collections throughout the state.

The exhibit will be on display in the Central Library lobby through the end of April. For more information, contact the Cultural Arts office at (949) 717-3870.
