A kennel license is required of every person who harbors more than three dogs over the age of four months on any premises in the City. The exception would be for a licensed business that is operated on a business premise which reasonably includes keeping dogs. All others are required to have a dog kennel license. All persons owning or operating a dog kennel must obtain a kennel license.
To obtain a license, an application must be completed and a permit fee paid. They are aavailable in the Revenue Division located at 100 Civic Center Dr or can be mailed at your request. The telephone number for the Revenue Division is 644-3141.
Once an application is received and the fee paid, the applications will be forwarded to Newport Beach Animal Control Unit.The applicant will be contacted by an Animal Control Officer to schedule an inspection of the premise before a kennel license will be approved and issued. Approved kennel licenses must be renewed on an annual basis.The renewal includes annual fees and inspections.
