The Building Department Public Counter, located at 3300 Newport Blvd, is open for full service from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Monday through Friday), and for services that do not require the payment of a fee until 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and until 5:00 p.m. on Fridays. Inspectors are available in the office from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. Monday through Friday. The City of Newport Beach currently adopted the following Codes: 1997 U.B.C., 1997 U.P.C., 1996 N.E.C., 1997 U.M.C., 1997 N.F.C., 1997 U.H.C., 1994 U.C.B.C., 1997 U.S.P.C., 1997 U.A.C., and N.B.M.C. The Building Department adopts policies supplementing the above codes.

Construction activity generating loud noise is allowed Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. No work that generates noise is allowed on Sundays and federal holidays. If you are disturbed by construction activity generating loud noise outside those hours, you may call the Police Department at 644-3681. You may report construction activity without permits or if a neighboring construction project has caused damage to your property by calling 644-3275 between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. weekdays.
